Macro photography refers to the art of taking photographs with a lens that acts like a microscope. It brings small things to the big screen, so to say. I always wanted to do macro photography, but a good 1:1 macro lens costs close to $1000usd, if not more! I just didn't have that kind of money to spend on a lens.One night though, I was thinking about lenses, and the fact that they are interchangable providing your two cameras are the same brand. I decided to dig out my old N75 Nikon SLR (yeah, 35mm film) and see what that lens was. Wouldn't you know for five years I've had a macro-capable lens collecting dust in my closet on my SLR body! It was such a great (re)find that I could have cried! Works great on my D200, too, which was just the bees knees. By macro-capable, by the way, I mean that when I extend the lens to its maximum (90mm), I can then switch to macro mode. It's a Quantaray lens, and I'm not sure if they're still made, but it takes beautiful shots and it would be a lot cheaper than a lens specifically for macro. Now that I have these capabilities though, I am utilizing them to my fullest. Here is my macro photography adventures! |
