Infrared photography is something I became interested in after seeing some of my favorite artists come out with photos done this way. So thanks to a little questioning, I determined that an R72 filter would be a good start for me, and away I went. I enjoy working in both color and black & white for the infrared photos, and experimentation is a must. In fact, there are so many different ways to work with these photographs in post that the possibilities are endless! This only makes the entire process more enjoyable for me, of course.

Infrared photography is defined as a photo that uses light that is beyond the visable spectrum. Because of this, it often makes the sky darker, clouds more pronounced, and foliage anywhere from deep pink to bright white. Depending on the color temperature will determine the saturation of tones in the photography, thus making every infrared photo unique. What most love about infrared photography though, is the way it makes an entire photo feel surreal.
