This is a project I started after seeing the first two photographs in the collection, which were totally unexpected. Flower photography is one of those things that many love, but few ever truly master, because it is a lot more difficult than some may ever imagine. I went outside one day after a rainstorm, or rather, between two very bad rainstorms, because I was looking to photograph water droplets on flowers. The lighting was wonderful for this type of work, but unfortunately my mother's garden was not meant to be as beautiful so late in the season (it was late July when I started) and so many of her most beautiful flowers were far past their prime. I still managed to secure two gems, and from there I decided I wanted to do an entire series of them. I am working to get twenty-five or twenty-six truly fantastic black and white flower photographs, and with them I am going to create a book. The book will contain the images, and inspirational quotes to go with each.
Currently, the project is on hold until warmer weather, when the flowers bloom once more. The trouble with starting so late is that I am located in the Northeastern part of the United States, and it snows here. Has this nasty habit of killing all my beautiful vegetation. So until warmer weather and greener trees, this project is still nothing more than a work in progress. |
