Artist Biography
Samantha is a photographer who started participating in her passion at the age of 16, being inspired by her high school photography class. From there she has gone on to experiment in all aspects of photography, ranging from models to still life, and even some obscure shots. She works in both traditional and digital mediums, and generally prefers the traditional more because of the enjoyment gotten from working in a darkroom. She currently resides in the state of New York, and uses her mountainous scenery to its full advantage. This is her passion, and she has followed it out of high school and into a career field as a professional photographer.
Artist Statement
Photography is a way for me to take what is ordinary and everyday, and create an artwork that is unusual and aesthetically pleasing. It’s through my lens that I can focus on things we don’t normally see, and bring them into light. When I shoot, my goal is to achieve something new, something beautiful, and something that people can look at and go “Oh wow, I never really noticed that before.” That way, I bring into light those small things in life we pass by; but that can be some of the greatest things to our five senses. In its own way, photography is my means of bringing more joy to this ever-dismal world we live in. Following it into a career field has only allowed me to do what I love for the rest of my life.
